Hey Everyone,
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my site Fitness Adventures with Liz!
Here's a little bit about me. I am a retired Chef, turned fitness junkie. I still really enjoying cooking, but the hours of working in a kitchen just got tiring. So now here I am, working out everyday and going on as many adventures I can.
I started camping when I was a kid and loved being outdoors. We had a cottage on a river where we would spend our summers fishing, swimming, boating and just being kids. Now as an adult, I am more interested in tent camping. I have a goal to camp at every Ontario Park out there. So far I have tackled 20!
My camping adventures always include my 3 year old English Bulldog, Rosie. Rosie loves being outdoors just as much as I do. She is very active for a Bulldog. She is able to hike about 5km as long as the temperature is right. If she isn't hiking, she loves to cuddle up in her chair by the campfire or try to catch chipmunks around the campsite.
Over the last few years I have been on a fitness journey. I started out in 2018 at 217 lbs. I knew I needed a change. I began eating a super strict Ketogenic diet and that did wonders for me and I dropped around 50 pounds in 6 short months. However, as soon as I would try to reintroduce carbs back into my diet I would ballon up again. So after that I was yo-yo dieting for awhile but still consistently going to the gym. Then flash forward to 2020 and COVID. Everything went in the toilet during that time. I work in a restaurant, so we were the first ones to be shut down. I had no gym, no work and nothing to do with my time but watch YouTube video and learn how to train a brand new puppy. I know I could have worked out at home, but that really isn't for me. I need to be in the gym to be motivated.
The summer of 2020 was filled with camping trips. It was the only thing we could do. We spent some time back at our family cottage, and once the Ontario Parks opened up, we were there, a long with a million other people. We went on a lot of walks and hikes that year as well. Rosie was still a pup but I knew I wanted to be able to hike with her so she started young. In the early days, we would only go 1.5-2km a day but gradually we increased it to where she is now. She is a very stubborn dog. When she doesn't want to go anywhere she WONT! So we just take our time and go at her pace and when she needs a break we sit and take it.
So now here we are in 2023. I am back in the gym 4-5 days a week. I am eating all kinds of food but staying within my macros and am at my lowest weight in my adult life. I feel really great with the way things are going so far this year. Summer is almost here and we are ready to camp! My first trip this year was at Pinery Provincial Park.
Follow along with this blog and I will be sharing our camping trips, how I meal plan for these trips, meal prep idea and some of my go to camping recipes. I will also be sharing some of my favourite workout routines as well as recipes that I turn to every week.
Thanks for stopping by and come back soon!
Love,
Liz
