Day Trip to North Beach Provincial Park

Tucked away on the northeastern shore of Lake Ontario lies North Beach Provincial Park, a hidden gem for nature lovers and beachgoers alike. Known for its expansive sandy shores and tranquil waters, North Beach offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you’re planning a family outing, a romantic getaway, or just a solo retreat, this park has something for everyone. Join me as I take you through a perfect day spent at North Beach Provincial Park.

Our adventure began early in the morning, we packed up the cooler and headed east on the 401 from Toronto and started our adventure. This trip was special for me as we were going to be meeting up with my sister and her family. It was Mila’s first trip to the beach and we were excited to show her the sun, sand and waves.

We purchased our daily vehicle permits the night before so we were sure to have a spot at this beautiful beach.

After parking our car in the designated lot, we made our way to the beach area. With a spacious stretch of sandy shoreline to choose from, we found a perfect spot near the water’s edge. Setting up our beach umbrella, chairs, and cooler was a breeze, and we were soon ready to soak in the sun and the scenery.

By noon, the sun was shining brightly, and the beach was starting to fill up with families, couples, and groups of friends. We kicked off our afternoon with a refreshing swim in the clear, cool waters of Lake Ontario. The gentle waves provided a soothing rhythm, making it easy to float and relax. Mila enjoyed her time on her floaty in the lake and splashed around the way she does in the tub.

Later in the afternoon, it was time to refuel. We had packed a picnic lunch with a variety of delicious snacks. North Beach Provincial Park has several picnic tables and shaded areas, but we opted to dine right on our blanket by the water. There’s something truly special about enjoying a meal with the sound of the waves in the background and the warm sand between your toes.

If you prefer not to pack your own food, the park has a small snack bar offering ice cream, drinks, and light snacks. It’s a convenient option if you need a quick refreshment during your beach day.

After lunch, we enjoyed the sunshine and listened to music. The atmosphere was calm and peaceful, making it easy to lose track of time. We watched as kids built sandcastles, and play in the water, adding to the vibrant yet relaxed ambiance of the park.

As the day began to wind down, we took one last dip in the lake before packing up our belongings. By 6 PM, the beach was less crowded, and the golden hour cast a magical glow over the entire park.

We left North Beach Provincial Park just as the sun was setting, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink. It was the perfect end to a perfect day, leaving us with cherished memories and a deep appreciation for this beautiful provincial park.

If you are in the are of North Beach, be sure to stop by one of my favourite spots for Jerk Chicken, JERKebago! We tried to stop by after we left the beach, but they were already sold out so make sure you get there early!

North Beach Provincial Park is a haven for beach enthusiasts and nature lovers. Its pristine sands, clear waters, and serene environment make it an ideal destination for a day trip or a longer stay. Whether you’re looking to swim, paddleboard, explore dunes, or simply relax by the water, North Beach has something to offer. I can’t wait to return and experience more of what this stunning park has to offer.

The memories that were created here on this afternoon are unforgettable. Go and check out this park and create your own family memories.
