A Memorable Weekend Camping at Presqu'ile Provincial Park

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of camping at Presqu'ile Provincial Park with the whole family! I went with my sister Alicia and her boyfriend Trevor and their 2 kids Sully (age 6) and Mila (7 months) and my niece Kaidy (age 12) and her brother Chase (age 11). Despite it being early in the camping season, we managed to create lasting memories and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. This was Mila & Sully's first camping trip so I really wanted to make it memorable for them both. Alicia and I camped here last season when she was pregnant with Mila, so we wanted to make this trip again with Mila in toe. If you remember from last season, Kaidy camped with me a lot so this year I really wanted to start making memories with the other kids too!

We arrived at Presqu'ile on Friday evening. The kids were bursting with excitement as we drove through the park's lush greenery. Upon reaching our campsite, the first task was to set up our tents. Kaidy and Chase were eager to help, proving to be quite the efficient little campers. Sully, on the other hand, was more interested in exploring the immediate area, while baby Mila watched curiously from her high chair. Trevor expertly guided the setup, ensuring everything was secure and comfortable for everyone.

Once our campsite was ready, we decided to take it easy and start a bonfire. As evening approached, we gathered around the campfire. We roasted marshmallows and made s'mores—a first for Mila, who declared them her new favorite treat. Kaidy and Chase told us stories, their animated expressions making them so funny. Mila was contentedly passed around to everyone, enjoying the warmth of the fire.

Although it was still early in the season for a full beach experience, we couldn't resist spending some time near the water. The beach at Presqu'ile is breathtaking, with its expansive shoreline and clear, cool waters. We took Mila, bundled in a camping onesie, loved feeling the rocks between her tiny fingers. I braved the water at the beach. I just couldn't resist the big waves coming in off of Lake Onatrio. I should have been more prepared but I went in waist deep in my leggings and loved every second of it!

The park is an excellent place for kids to learn about nature. On Saturday afternoon, we visited the Presqu'ile Lighthouse. The kids were excited to learn about the history of the park and ships that set sail and never returned.

As our weekend came to an end, we reluctantly packed up our campsite. Despite a few challenges the kids were incredibly helpful. We shared one last meal together, talking about our favorite moments from the trip. Alicia and Trevor's help made the process smooth and efficient, allowing us to savor the final moments of our trip.

Sunday greeted us with an unexpected drizzle. Undeterred, we decided to embrace the rain. We donned our raincoats and umbrellas and went for a short hike. The marshland looked magical, with raindrops glistening on leaves and the earthy scent of wet soil filling the air. It was a perfect opportunity to let the kids run around and read the signs and learn about the plants and trees, and how they thrive in such weather.

Camping at Presqu'ile Provincial Park with Kaidy, Mila, Chase, Sully, Alicia, and Trevor was a delightful experience. It reminded me of the simple joys of nature and the importance of family. The park offered a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation, and even though it was early in the camping season, we made the most of every moment.

Whether it's the serene beauty of the beach, the excitement of exploring trails, or the warmth of a campfire, Presqu'ile has something for everyone. I'm already looking forward to our next family camping trip, where we'll create even more unforgettable memories.

Happy Camping 🏕️

Love, Liz
